Guidance for controlled revisions, raw dwell evidence, transfer design, replicate observations, bounded scenarios, exports, and the experimental checks that remain outside the app.
Start with the synthetic demonstration
Gradientforge opens with a clearly labeled fictional caffeine-impurity transfer case so all six workspaces can be inspected without entering laboratory information. Review Casebook, Dwell Lab, Transfer Design, Run Evidence, Scenario Matrix, and Decision Handoff before creating a private case.
Create and revise a case
Use the plus button in the case sidebar to create a local transfer case. Record the analyst, sample, controlled method reference, status, and notes in Casebook. Freeze a completed method revision to make it read-only; use Fork revision when later work must preserve the prior evidence.
Measure dwell evidence
In Dwell Lab, enter source or receiving-system marker-gradient response observations. Gradientforge calculates the observed midpoint, delay, and dwell volume from the entered trace. Freeze a completed measurement before applying it to an eligible editable method revision.
Build the transfer design
In Transfer Design, switch between Source and Receiving. Enter column dimensions, particle size, porosity, flow, injection, dwell volume, pressure evidence, viscosity screen, and chronological gradient rows. Compare the programmed and at-column timelines and review all surfaced blockers before freezing the revision.
Interpret mechanical screens
The target pressure value is a relative screen derived from measured source pressure and entered geometry, particle, flow, and viscosity values. The Scenario Matrix varies only entered target dwell and flow around the nominal case. Neither screen predicts chemistry, selectivity, or robustness, and missing source pressure is never invented.
Review replicate evidence
In Run Evidence, enter acceptance criteria from the controlled method, then add replicate runs and measured retention time, baseline width, tailing factor, and area RSD for each peak. Mark the critical pair to review adjacent resolution. Gradientforge does not prescribe acceptance limits.
Export the evidence packet
In Decision Handoff, resolve findings, record decisions and disposition, then tap Export evidence packet. Gradientforge creates two JSON files, four CSV files, Markdown and PDF reports, and a SHA-256 manifest in a new versioned folder. The Apple share sheet opens only after all nine files are ready.
Before instrument use
Review the translated table with a qualified chromatographer. Confirm solvent compatibility, instrument delay behavior, column limits, pressure, selectivity, resolution, sensitivity, robustness, and system suitability experimentally under the laboratory's procedures.
