Guidance for source and target setup, dwell review, suitability observations, exports, and the experimental checks that remain outside the app.
Start with the synthetic demonstration
Gradientforge opens with a clearly labeled fictional caffeine-impurity project so every workspace can be inspected without entering laboratory information. Open Transfer, Method, Suitability, Records, and Sources before creating a private project.
Create a project record
Use the folder button in Transfer to create, select, rename, duplicate, or delete projects. Record the analyst, sample, controlled method reference, and review notes. These fields stay in the app's local container.
Enter the source method
In Method, choose Source and enter column dimensions, particle size, porosity, flow, injection volume, dwell volume, extra-column volume, viscosity screen, and the maximum pressure actually observed. Add hold and ramp rows in chronological order with percent B between 0 and 100.
Describe the target configuration
Switch to Target and enter the target column and LC system. Gradientforge compares the entered target flow with a geometry and particle-size screen, scales gradient timing and injection by packed column volume, and calculates dwell-delay handling from both systems' entered values.
Interpret the pressure screen
The target pressure value is a relative screen derived from the measured source maximum and the entered geometry, particle, flow, and viscosity values. It is not an absolute prediction. If no measured source pressure is entered, Gradientforge does not invent an estimate.
Review suitability measurements
Enter the acceptance criteria from your controlled method, then enter measured retention time, baseline width, tailing factor, and area RSD for representative injections. Mark the critical pair to review adjacent resolution. Gradientforge does not prescribe acceptance limits.
Export the evidence package
Open Records and tap Export handoff. Gradientforge creates project JSON, translated-gradient CSV, suitability CSV, TXT and PDF reports, and a SHA-256 checksum manifest locally. The Apple share sheet opens only after the files are ready.
Before instrument use
Review the translated table with a qualified chromatographer. Confirm solvent compatibility, instrument delay behavior, column limits, pressure, selectivity, resolution, sensitivity, robustness, and system suitability experimentally under the laboratory's procedures.
Contact support
Include Gradientforge version 1.0 build 4 or later, the device model, iOS or iPadOS version, the workspace involved, and reproducible steps. Do not email proprietary methods, sample identifiers, regulated records, or confidential chromatograms.
